I am an associate lawyer at Pushor Mitchell LLP. I have developed my practice focusing primarily on family law, including divorce, custody, guardianship and access, child and spousal support issues, property division as well as adoption work.
When a couple separates, it is often a very emotionally challenging and difficult time for all involved and I believe that it is always preferable to negotiate a settlement through the participation and agreement of the parties. I strive to facilitate the efficient and cost-effective resolution of matrimonial issues for my clients by way of a separation agreement wherever possible and believe that the collaborative process is ideal to enable the parties to be active participants in the determination of a resolution that is tailored to meet their personal goals and values. At the outset, I explain the various resources and procedures that are available to my clients and the benefits of each. The collaborative process necessitates cooperation and communication and, as a result, generally leaves the parties with a sense of accomplishment and civility at the end, but it is not right for everyone and I will utilize other dispute resolutions mechanisms where appropriate, ranging from mediation, to settlement conferences to litigation, and all steps in between, to reach a resolution that is right for you.
I completed my law degree in 2007 at the University of Alberta after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology and psychology from Simon Fraser University. I am a member of the Kelowna Bar Association and an executive member of the Canadian Bar Association subsections. Outside of the office, I can often be found playing softball, ice hockey, hiking or learning to appreciate the game of golf with my family.
